EXPLOSIVES—Rule 4.08
Distance Prohibitions 4.08.4; Warnings 4.08.4; Control of Adverse Effects 4.08.4:
Annual blasting notice and notification of adjacent landwoners ran in the Craig Daily Press and the Meeker Herald
Post in January 2011. Colowyo conducted blasts during the inspection,though blasts were not observed during
this inspection.
Gary Anderson, Head Blaster, showed me where blast reports are kept in his office. Blasting records were
inspected. Blasting records are kept in accordance with Rule 4.08.5. No problems were noted with the blasting
records. Colowyo recently received their renewed ATF license 5-CO-103-20-3E-12055. This license expires
5/1/2013.
FISH and WILDLIFE—Rule 4.18:
Muledeer were noted in inactive portions of the mine. West facing slopes of the Work Area pond were heavily
grazed by wildlife. Elk were observed along the main access road on the north side of the permit.

Ponds were visited: Several ponds were inaccessible due to very soft muddy, and snow drifted roads. The ponds
not accessed included: East Taylor, West Pit, Taylor and Section 28 ponds.
Streeter pond was discharging clear, 0.08 on the flume. pond is still partially frozen over. No problems were
observed with the pond or embankment.
Work Area pond was discharging 0.10 on the flume. Discharge is clear. The connection between the flume and
the discharge pipe is leaking. This connection needs to be repaired this construction season. The leak is small and
does not appear to significantly alter the flow measurement. It does not affect the function of the discharge pipe or
integrity of the embankment.
Taylor Sumps 2, 3, and 4 have been cleaned out . Cleaned out material remains stockpiled near the sumps. The
cleanings need to be hauled away. Sumps.remain iced over. Progress along the taulor access road was halted at
Sump#4 due to soft muddy roadway and snowdrifts across the roadway.
Gossard pond was discharging clear, 0.04 on the flume,Maintenance of ditches and culverts at the loadout has
been initiated this runoff season. All culverts were functional and no ponding in ditches was observed.
The Loop pond was receiving wash down inflow during the inspection but the water level was approximately 3 ft.
below the bottom of the pipe. The gate on this pond was open. Loop pond flume needs to be cleaned out.
