SRT139.7
Form: The specimen is a tertiary flake fragment, •
triangular in shape and lenticular in cross-
section. It exhibits retouch unilaterally
and unifacially.
Material: Pink chert
Dimensions: 2.08 cm long x 2.45 cm. wide x .51 cm. thick
Retouch: Unilateral edge retouch of the dorsal face
Functional
Interpretation: The specimen shows steep retouch occuring on ~
one lateral edge of the dorsal face. Associated
wear includes scalar scars as well as a series
of step fractures, all indicative of some
type of scraping activity.
•
5RT139.10
Form: The specimen is a distal fragment of a
projectile point. Tool form exhibits
a biconvex cross-section with slight
excurvate bilateral edges. Fractures
include both a medial and distal snap.
Material: Brown chert including granular impurities.
Dimensions: 2.03 cm. long x 1.62 cm. wide x .50 cm. thick
Retouch: Irregular bifacial pressure flaking
Functional
Interpretation: The size of the tool, coupled with the
lack of wear along the lateral edges
indicate probable utilization as a projectile
point.
•
38
