The store was entered by some-
one who evidently kicks against
the high cost of living. Some
eggs, butter, and other rare treats
of the present day, were in some
mysterious manner smuggled
away from the store. Warrants
were sworn out Thursday and
before long the guilty person will
be landed behind the prison bars.
The City Council has
appointed Herman Zueck night
marshal to fill the vacancy
caused by the resignation of
Earl Aggus. Zueck, former sheriff
of this county, has considerable
experience in this type of work.
The other appointment was
Harley Short to the Street and
Water Commissioner job. He
replaces F.J. Brown, who has held
that position for many years.
Short, who returned to Silverton
the past year and purchased the
DRILLING REVEALS
MORE ORE BODIES
AT TUNNEL WORK.
Unconfirmed rumors in
Silverton middle of the week
were to the effect that core
drilling at the American Tunnel
indicated additional ore bodies
had been cut. A series of holes
have been drilled to determine
the extent of the veins and loca-
tion of others.
A few local enthusiasts would
like to see a miners' drilling con-
test staged sometime this coming
summer. Advenised it would
attract many visitors as well as
local people. The celebrations in
years past drew record crowds.
Let's talk up some kind of a min-
ing show this summer.
