Class Iff Inventory, Colowyo's Collom Mine Project 141 <br />measures 6.8P x 4.6 x 4.0 cm and exhibits bifacial grinding and a pecked edge. Mano 3 is an <br />incomplete quartzite cobble that measures 10.OP x 4.8 x 3.6 cm and exhibits unifacial grinding. <br />Manos 4 -6 were clustered together in the eastern part of the site in a small stand of juniper trees. <br />Mano 4 is a complete quartzite cobble that measures 9.8 x 7.5 x 2.7 cm and exhibits one lightly <br />ground surface. Manos 5 and 6 are incomplete basalt specimens that measured 11.8P x 7.0 x 5.6 cm <br />and 8.5P x 9.5 x 5.7 cm, respectively. The metate fragment is made of sandstone and consists of a <br />face and edge portion that measures 51.5P x 25.OP x 6.7 cm. The face is well dished from unifacial <br />grinding, and pecking is present. The indeterminate groundstone fragment appears to be an edge <br />fragment made of sandstone that measures 6AP x 4.2P x 3.9 cm. <br />The site was not tested because the sediment context suggests that it has been heavily impacted by <br />slopewash with little integrity of deposits. <br />NRHP Eligibility Recommendation and Project Effect Site 5MF6091 is recommended as not <br />eligible for listing on the NRFIP when evaluated under Criterion D. The site is a surface <br />manifestation that lacks dateable cultural features, and it does not appear to have integrity of <br />deposition due to extensive slopewashing of sediments. It has little or no potential to contain intact <br />significant subsurface cultural deposits. <br />The site occurs within the mine permit boundary, but it is not eligible for the NRHP, and the project <br />will have no effect.
