Work
DRAFT
12
Once testing is completed, interpretation of the geochemical data will be conducted and
the data will be used to estimate potential impacts to the groundwater or surface water
environment. Interpretation will include organizing the data in a database, plotting data
to show distribution of key parameters, and tabulating and comparing results to
applicable standards or average values. Limited acid -base accounting will also be
useful to estimate the overall net acid - generation potential of samples.
Table 3.5 Analytical suite from CMLRD (1982)
pH
Sulfur
Electrical conductivity
% Pyritic sulfur
Total combustible solids
% Sulfate sulfur
Lithologic classification
% Organic sulfur
Textural analysis
Total sulfur
• Sand
Arsenic (As)
• Silt
Boron (B)
• Clay
Cadmium (Cd)
Saturation percentage
Copper (Cu)
Sodium Adsorption Ratio (SAR)
Iron (Fe)
Calcium (Ca +2)
Lead (Pb)
Magnesium (MG +2)
Manganese (Mn)
Nitrate - Nitrate
Mercury (Hg)
Sodium (Na +)
Molybdenum (Mo)
Selenium (Se)
Zinc (Zn)
2572 -R1
Water Management Consultants
Colowyo Coal Company, L.P.
