iv
Executive summary
1
As part of the pre - feasibility hydrogeologic assessment, WMC identified additional or
continuing studies that would be required to support the feasibility study and permitting.
Recommended tasks to support the feasibility study include:
• defining the hydrology of the burn zones and evaluating their potential
impact on pit dewatering;
• evaluating hydrogeologic conditions in the Phase 2 area to determine
whether the data collected from the pilot test well are representative of
conditions across the proposed mine;
• evaluation of hydrogeologic conditions outside the immediate area of the
Collom Mine;
• refining the dewatering /slope depressurization system design and water
management plan; and
• a geochemical evaluation of spoils to support waste rock management
options.
Recommended tasks to support permitting include:
• the forthcoming regional groundwater model;
• continued surface water and groundwater monitoring and evaluation of
data;
• additional evaluations for delineation of AVFs; and
• hydrologic evaluation of aspects of mine closure and reclamation.
•
2572 -R
Colowyo Coal Company
Water Management Consultants
