amec'*
Earth & Environmental
E) Slope Contouring
1) VLF
Slope contouring was performed in the following areas: between stations A0+00 (+/-) and
Al+00 (+/-), approximately 0 to 50 feet left of centerline; between stations H31+00 (+/-) and
H34+00 (+/-), approximately 0 to 100 feet left of centerline; and between stations J1+00 (+/-)
and J11+00 (+/-), approximately 0 to 300 left of centerline. Contouring was performed using
various CAT dozers. Material generated as the cut progressed was pushed down the slope.
F) Overburden to Stockpile
1) VLF
Oversize rock within the Phase 5 VLF fill area was removed from fill areas and hauled to the
overburden stockpile area east of the east perimeter road between stations A28+00 (+/-) to
A36+00 (+/-).
G) Cut to Fill
1) VLF
A John Deere 850 excavator, a CAT 375 excavator, and a CAT 385 excavator excavated
structural fill material from the following areas: between stations between stations A6+00 (+/-)
and A8+00 (+/-), approximately 30 to 75 feet left of centerline; between stations A8+00 (+/-)
and J28+00 (+/-), approximately 0 to 40 feet right of centerline; between stations H16+00 (+/-)
H32+00 (+/-), approximately 0 to 150 feet left of centerline; and between stations J27+00 (+/-)
and J29+00 (+/-), approximately 0 to 50 right of centerline. The structural fill material was
loaded into CAT 777 haul trucks. The material was transported to the following fill areas
throughout the shift:
Structural fill material was placed in the following areas: between stations A34+00 (+/-) and
A46+00 (+/-), approximately 100 feet left of centerline to 50 feet right of centerline; between
A54+00 (+/-) and A61+00 (+/-), approximately 50 to 150 feet right of centerline; and between
stations K12+00 (+/-) and K13+50 (+/-), approximately 100 to 200 feet right of centerline. The
structural fill material was spread using various CAT dozers in 18" to 24" lifts. Each lift was
moisture conditioned using a CAT 773 water truck (when necessary) and compacted using a
10-ton vibratory smooth drum compactor, passing over the entire fill surface at least 4 times
(method compaction technique is applicable).
Blast pattern drilling was performed between stations J27+00 (+/-) and J29+00 (+/-),
approximately 30 feet left of centerline to 30 feet right of centerline and between stations using
two track mounted drill rigs. Blasting was performed in this area on Tuesday (9/9/2009).
H) Material Processing
1) South Cresson Clay Processing Area
Processing of Soil Liner Fill material continued at the South Cresson Clay Processing area. A
CAT D-6 dozer, a CAT 330 excavator, and a CAT 966 front-end loader were used to process
the material.
VLF Weekly Report WE 09.12.09.D.doc
