ame
Earth & Environmental
3) Topsoil Relocation
The lower topsoil stockpile, south of the LOB Delivery road, was contoured through out the
week using a CAT D-6 LGP dozer.
C) Overburden to Stockpile:
1) VLF
Oversize rock within in the Phase 5 VLF fill area was stockpiled using a CAT D-9 dozer for
future haul to the Joe Dandy Main Cresson Backfill. Oversize materials previously stockpiled
were moved to the east slope of the Phase 5 east perimeter road using a CAT D-6 dozer and a
CAT 966 front-end loader.
2) VLF Subgrade Preparation
Subgrade preparation was performed between stations A27+00 (+/-) and A38+00 (+/-),
approximately 50 to 300 feet left of centerline. The areas were scarified to a depth of 12" to 18"
inches using a CAT D-9 dozer and moisture conditioned using a CAT 773-water truck.
Compaction was performed using a CAT 563 vibratory smooth drum compactor passing over
the subgrade surface with 4-passes. No unsuitable materials were found during subgrade
preparation.
3) VLF, PSSA Haul Road
No work performed during the week.
D) Cut to Fill
1) VLF
A John Deere 850D excavator and Komatsu 800 excavator excavated structural fill material
between stations J1+50 and J14+50 approximately 75 to 200 feet left of centerline. The
structural fill material was transported using 777 haul trucks and 40-ton articulating haul
trucks. Structural fill was placed in the VLF between stations A17+00 (+/-) and A29+00 (+/-),
approximately 50 to 400 feet left of centerline. Structural Fill was placed using one CAT D-9
dozer and a CAT D-10 dozer. Lift thickness was 18" to 24" (based on rock size). Moisture
conditioning of the fill was performed using a CAT 773-water truck. Each lift was compacted
with a smooth drum vibratory roller a minimum of 4-passes over the entire surface (method
compaction technique is applicable).
Rockbreakers began drilling a shot pattern between stations A17+50 (+/-) to A20+00(+/-)
using three track mounted drill rigs. This area is scheduled to be shot next week.
Suitable structural fill material excavated from the LOB Delivery Road cuts was hauled to the
PSSA Embankment fill and end dumped on the fill. This material will be spread and placed at
a later date.
2) VLF, PSSA Haul Road
No work performed during the week.
3) Sediment Collection Pond
No work performed during the week.
Sheet 2 of 6
VLF Weekly Report WE 06.06.09.D.doc
