Request for Extension Permit No. 98-Z1281
Stegner Farm / Trollco Inc
4.0 MATERIAL VOLUMES
We estimated the volumes of material remaining in the pit. These would
be the materials that would be sold/removed over the three year extension
period. The tonnages are as follows:
- In place, unmined sand and gravel 49,000 Tons
- Sand stockpiles 54,000 Tons
The pit floor contains cobbles that are suitable for landscaping rock.
There are probably tens of thousands of tons of this material. However,
even if the cobbles are not removed it does not significantly affect the
ability to reclaim the property or to create the lake.
5.0 OPERATING PLAN
The days and hours of operation shall remain the same as those specified
in the original permit. The same trucking limits shall also apply although
the truck traffic volume will be much lower than when Al was operating the
pit due to the limited tonnage of material remaining. The material will be
marketed to local contractors and others who need relatively small
quantities of sand and gravel for local projects or perhaps for road base on
private property.
The material will be removed with loaders or excavators and removed by
trucks. Revegetation will proceed concurrently with mining and hauling.
The concept is to load the material from where it is directly onto the haul
trucks to the extent possible. There may be very limited processing of
sand and gravel material. This could involve minor screening and
crushing.
6.0 RECLAMATION PLAN
The reclamation plan remains the same as that contained in the approved
DRMS and Special Review permits. The post-mining land use is a lake,
native vegetation and wildlife habitat. The residential structures and
outbuildings will remain. Areas that will be inundated with water will not be
vegetated. Slopes and upland areas will be revegetated.
The side slopes of the pit have already been graded to the final
configuration. As the remaining material is removed, topsoil will be spread
on areas that will no longer be disturbed by excavation and hauling
activity. There is sufficient topsoil material stockpiled on the property to
Banks and Gesso, LLC Page 4 of 5
November 5, 2010
