ameo
•
permeability of 1 x 10-e cm/sec. The permeability test results for the SLF are presented in
Appendix H-3 and summarized in Table 9.
4.2 Field Testing and Monitoring
AMEC observed all fill operations in the 2010 Phase 5 VLF to verify, when necessary, lift
thickness, adequate compaction, and acceptable moisture conditions. Holes made in the fill
during testing were backfilled and tamped with fine SLF materials. AMEC standardized
nuclear gauges at the start of each day's work according to ASTM D2922.
4.2.1 Underground Workings
AMEC monitored remediation of underground workings, including verification that
excavations were performed to minimum required dimensions, and that CP, CR, geogrid,
SF, FSB, and SSF were installed as specified.
• 4.2.1.1 Concrete Plug and Cemented Rockfill
AMEC observed placement and testing of CP material used within the footprint of the Phase
5 VLF. AMEC observed and documented testing of approximately 210 cubic yards of
concrete for slump, air entrainment, temperature, placement time and compressive strength.
Five tests were performed on slump. Five tests were performed on compressive strength for
a testing frequency of approximately one test per 42 cubic yards. This exceeded the
minimum specified testing frequency of one test per every 50 cubic yards. All tests met
compressive strength specification. The concrete observation and test results are
presented in Appendix N-4 and summarized in Table 18.
Ute Pass Concrete supplied CR. AMEC verified the CR provided by Ute Pass Concrete met
the project specifications.

AMEC Earth & Environmental, Inc.
2000 S.
