ameo
•
frequency of one test per 50,000 cubic yards. The SF compaction test results are presented
in Appendix H-2 and summarized in Table 8. CQC Proctor tests were not included in the
Proctor testing frequency.
AMEC performed standard Proctor compaction tests of SLF in order to compare in-place
densities and moisture contents with laboratory derived values of maximum dry density and
optimum moisture content. AMEC performed sixteen CQA Standard Proctor compaction
tests of SLF. The testing frequency (approximately one test per 3,334 cubic yards)
exceeded the minimum specified testing frequency of one test per 5,000 cubic yards. The
SLF compaction test results are presented in Appendix H-2 and summarized in Table 9.
CQC Proctor tests were not included in the Proctor testing frequency.
AMEC performed one standard Proctor compaction test of LVSCF in order to compare
in-place densities and moisture contents beneath PSSA riser base plates and in the PSSA
anchor trench for LVSCF with laboratory derived values of maximum dry density and
optimum moisture content. There is no testing frequency for LVSCF. The LVSCF
compaction test result is presented in Appendix H-2 and summarized in Table 10. CQC
Proctor tests were not included in the Proctor testing frequency.
4.1.5 Permeability Tests
AMEC conducted permeability tests of SLF. AMEC conducted sixteen permeability tests of
re-compacted samples of SLF. The testing frequency (approximately one test per
3,334 cubic yards) exceeded the minimum specified testing frequency of one test per
4,000 cubic yards. Testing was performed with a flexible-wall permeameter with
back-pressure saturation and a constant rate of flow (ASTM D5084, Method D). The fill was
re-compacted to the in-place density measured during nuclear density tests and the
corresponding moisture content (as determined from oven-dried samples). The nuclear
density value measured in the field was corrected for coarse particles according to
ASTM D4718. Laboratory tests yielded coefficients of permeability for the CQA samples
from 8.8 x 10-7cm/sec to 2.2 x 10-acm/sec, all of which are less than the specified maximum
•
AMEC Earth & Environmental, Inc.
2000 S.
