0 ameo
3.0 GEOSYNTHETICS INSTALLATION
Geosynthetics installed in the 2010 Phase 5 VLF consisted of geotextile, geogrid,
Geocomposite Clay Liner (GCL), and geomembrane. Twelve-ounce, non-woven geotextile
manufactured by TenCate of Pendergrass, GA was used to construct the UD trenches of the
Phase 5 PSSA. The 2010 Phase 5 VLF double liner system included 100-mil single-sided
textured LLDPE geomembrane, 100-mil double-sided textured LLDPE geomembrane,
100-mil smooth LLDPE geomembrane, and 80-mil single-sided textured LLDPE
geomembrane manufactured by Poly-Flex of Grand Prairie, Texas. GCL manufactured by
Cetco of Lovell, New York, was used for construction of the PSSA riser foundation. Geogrid
manufactured by TENSAR was used in the remediation of select underground workings as
described in Section 2.1.
3.1 Underdrains
Geosynthetics installation for the Primary and secondary underdrains was performed by
Ames, and included deployment of 12-ounce non-woven geotextile. Ames installed
approximately 52,008 square feet of geotextile to construct the Underdrains. Underdrain
construction is discussed further in Section 2.2.
3.2 Closure Drains
Geosynthetics installation for the northern two Closure Drains was performed by Ames, and
included deployment of 12-ounce non-woven geotextile. Ames installed approximately
10,000 square feet of geotextile to construct the Closure Drains. Closure Drain construction
is discussed further in Section 2.3.
The southern Closure Drain resides over the Phase IVa VLF. At closure this area will be
punctured and allowed to drain into the Phase IVa VLF.

AMEC Earth & Environmental, Inc.
2000 S.
