Please see the Custom Soil Report for Huerfano County attached to this supplemental
submittal. The topsoil stockpiles will be seeded with western wheatgrass at a rate of 9
PSL per acre. The topsoil stockpiles will be placed separated from other products and
salvaged for reclamation use. Please see the Mine Plan Map Exhibit - E sheet 2 of 2 for
detail location. The topsoil stockpiles will not be located in any drainage ways nor
stream channels.
4. The thickness of the overburden is nil due to the proximity of the resource rock to the
surface of the soil layer which is only 10 to 20 inches to paralithic bedrock.
5. The deposit to be mined is from 8 to 14 feet deep from the existing surface. This is an
educated guess since no excavations have been done to establish an accurate depth.
6. The access road will be improved and the landowner as asked to have the road remain
post mining to be used on the ranch. There will be no underground openings such as
adits or shafts. No permanent structures will be established on site the crushing and
screening equipment will be portable and not remain post mining. If a truck scale is
needed it to will be a portable model. No permanent office structure is planned if one is
necessary it will be a trailer use for construction work site and portable.
7. There will not be any mine benches, impoundments or stockpiles that will need to be
reclaimed after mining the slopes will be 3 horizontal to 1 vertical or flatter post
mining. No waste rock is expected to be generated is on this mine site.
8. The existing two-truck private drive will be improved with the additional of gravel and
shaping of the profile. The road length is 8800 feet of approximately 1.67 miles. The
improved road will be shaped to provide the stormwater runoff to be directed to prevent
erosion.
9. The water used for this mining operation will be for dust control only. No product
washing is to take place using water for washing.
10. The water for this project will from a legal source it may be purchased for the local
providers. If local water is not available Magnesium Chloride will be used in dust and
erosion control for this gravel pit.
11. The deposit will be processed on site by crushing and screening. Production will not
utilize any chemicals. This will be a dry processing of material with a mobile plant set-
up operation. No permanent structures are to be constructed for this gravel pit
operation.
12. The primary commodity will be a road base and the secondary product will be
structural fill. The products produced by this gravel mine will be for construction
aggregates for use in local projects.
13. No incidental products will be created by this operation.
14. No explosives will be used in the extraction of processing of the material on this site.
6.3.4 EXHIBIT D- RECLAMATION PLAN
15. The overburden is minimal and it will be replaced after all the mining has been
completed at a depth of from 7" to 11".
16. Seeding will take place when the mine is mined out and reclamation is undertaken by
replacing the soil and then the seeding will be done as per the NRCS RECLAMATION
GUIDELINES.
