Page 13
2. Wearing proper protective gear, rinse the sampling container in a decontaminated sampling
bucket three times with the liquid to be sampled.
3. Slowly submerge the pond sampler into the liquid to be sampled with minimal surface
disturbance. Retrieve the pond sampler from the reservoir with minimal disturbance. Pour
liquid from the full pond sampler into a decontaminated sampling bucket. Continue until the
required volume of liquid has been collected.
4. Measure field parameters including: pH, conductivity, temperature, and dissolved oxygen.
5. If the sample liquid contains little or no solids, stir or swirl the contents of the bucket gently.
Using the sampling container, fill the sample bottles (unfiltered samples). For filtered
samples, filter the sample according to procedures outlined in Appendix E, then fill the
sample bottles with the filtered liquid. See Table 4 for correct bottle size and composition.
Add the appropriate preservatives, if required, as indicated in Table 4.
If the sample contains a large amount of suspended solids, stir or swirl the contents of the
bucket gently. Allow the solids to settle to the bottom of the bucket. Dipping from the upper
portion of the bucket, fill sample bottles (unfiltered samples). For filtered samples, filter the
aqueous portion of the liquid according to procedures in Appendix E, then fill the sample
bottles with the filtered liquid. Correct bottle size, composition, and preservatives (if
required) are indicated in Table 4.
6. Label the sample bottles. Record the sampling information in the bound field logbook and
complete the chain-of-custody documents.
7. Properly clean and decontaminate the sampling equipment prior to reuse or storage.
Decontamination procedures are outlined in Appendix B.
Sampling procedures for collecting samples from the downspouts of the Chalk Mountain
Interceptor and North Interceptor canals and from the seep below Eagle Park Reservoir are as
follows:
1. Wearing proper protective gear, rinse a decontaminated sample container(bucket) three times
with the liquid to be sampled.
• 2. Collect a grab sample from one of the downspouts or from the center of the seep sump using
the sample container.
PRIVILEGED AND CONFIDENTIAL
— - - ----Environmental.C:(PROJECTS16102-OOIUt1176102.001[6120/%] - - -
