The corrosion damage is evident around the full circumference of the
pipe. TCC had begun the repair process at the time of the inspection.
- Yellow toadflax was observed on the embankment of the Fish Creek Tipple pond.
- Substantial thistle growth was observed on the embankments of the 6MN holding pond.
- Thistle growth was observed on the embankments of Ponds E, F and G
- Houndstounge was observed throughout the embankments of Pond B.
Ditches and culverts throughout the main facilities area and all outlaying areas were inspected for compliance.
The following maintenance items need to be addressed.
Culverts that will require maintenance:
- An unidentified culvert along an area of rock checks west of the access road within the Fish Creek Tipple pad
area will need to be identified or removed according to the Foidel Creek PAP.
- Two culverts along the access road to the 6MN site at the Fish Creek.
- The NWM Vent Fan culvert.
- Three culverts under the Fish Creek Borehole access road.
- The weld shop culvert.
- The E-1(b) culvert east of the shop.
- The culvert to Pond B sump.
- Culvert C-3 east of the batch-weigh station will need the approved sediment control measures in place.
- The small 8" pipe along the D-4 ditch under the south end of the coal stockpile .
Ditches
- Erosion on the ditch embankments of the Pad Drainage Ditch 1 at the Fish Creek Tipple will need to be
addressed in order to prevent run-off from leaving the ditch.
- An area of large amount of cattails was observed in the RDA-1 ditch. This area receives a substantial amount of
run-off from the west slope of the refuse area. The cattails and sediment buildup should be addressed to prevent
water from leaving the ditch.
- Non-coal waste or storage equipment should be removed from the RDA-1 ditch south of the refuse pile.
The drainage from the clay stockpile south of the storage area east of the Trudy's Corner SAE to the RDA-1 ditch
should be reestablished in the area where the access ramp gate is located.
Small rills were observed along the 6MN ditch to the collection pond and on the pond embankments. No
problems were noted, but the erosion should be monitored.
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 1
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 1
Page 3 of 8
