July 28,2010 C-1982-057/Seneca II-W Mine DTM Straw wattle sediment control measures installed at the northwest corner of reclaimed Topsoil Stockpile CCC had been damaged, apparently by elk, and need to be replaced. Straw wattles need to be installed in series at the lower perimeter of the Topsoil Stockpile XX location, and along the access route between the stockpile and Road"J". ROADS—Rule 4.03 ❑Construction 4.03.1(3)/4.03.2(3) ❑Drainage 4.03.1(4)/4.03.2(4) []Surfacing and Maintenance4.03.1(5) and(6)/4.03.2(5) and(6) ❑Reclamation 4.03.1(7)/4.03.2(7): Roads were in general well maintained across the site,however in various locations drainage maintenance work is warranted. Observations noted for specific road locations are addressed below. Road "G" • Minor scour along Road"G"ditch segment directly north of the Pond 005 inlet. Ditch relief drain off the road fill into a side drainage north of the road in this immediate vicinity was previously lined with turf reinforcement mat(TRM). There had been some side scour along the east bank of the relief drain, outside of the TRM liner. TRM liner installation appears to be warranted along the road ditch segment, and additional liner installation is warranted along the east bank of the ditch relief drain. • Minor rills are present along the lower end of the former access route from Road"G"up to former Topsoil Pile PP. Hand crew installation of rock checks, straw wattles,or similar measures, along with broadcast seeding is warranted to facilitate stabilization of the rilled segment. • There is minor scour along the south road ditch from the vicinity of the gate west of former Topsoil Pile "SS",up to the vicinity of Culvert PM-15. Minor grading and re-seeding, along with installation of rock checks or straw wattle checks in series,and/or TRM liner installation appears to be warranted to stabilize and establish vegetation along the segment. Ridgeline Access Road The following drainage maintenance items noted along the Ridgeline Access Road in the Division's previous complete inspection report have not yet been addressed,and the work needs to be completed. • From PM-15 on"G"Road up to a point east of PM-3 on the Ridgeline Access Road, a series of rock checks has been installed along the inside road ditch,but the ditch has scoured up to 6"between checks, and Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 0 Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 1 Page 7 of 19
