C. Existing Conditions <br />1. The Contractor takes full responsibility for making him /herself of the conditions of <br />the site prior to construction <br />2. Casing pipe, spacers, carrier pipe and casing end seals see Section 331100 for details <br />B. Fill Material <br />1. Use slurry consisting of 1 -1 /4 pounds of Bentonite per gallon of water to fill any <br />minor voids between outside of casing pipe and soil <br />2. Use Portland cement grout slurry to fill any voids that cannot be filled with Bentonite <br />slurry. <br />3. Portland cement grout shall contain fly ash, or other admixtures approved by the <br />Engineer, to retard grout curing until grout has completely filled voids <br />PART 3 - EXECUTION <br />3.1 PREPARATION <br />A. Protection <br />1. Provide necessary safety measures for construction activities <br />2. Implement the required traffic control and notification to CDOT by installing the <br />necessary barricades, warning signs, lights etc. <br />3. Identify required lines, levels, contours, and datum <br />4. Locate existing underground structures and utilities in areas of jacking and receiving <br />pits or shafts <br />5. Install dewatering systems for jacking and receiving pits, or shafts <br />6. Dewatering shall meet the requirements of Section 331100 <br />7. Dewater excavations for jacking and receiving pits, or shafts, to a minimum level of <br />three feet below the bottom of excavations for the said pits or shafts <br />B. Surface Preparation <br />1.
