1.5 QUALITY ASSURANCE <br />A. Qualifications <br />1. At the request of the Owner or Engineer, the Contractor shall submit data on the <br />jacking and auger boring company's experience <br />a. Provide the years of experience and an installation list including the following <br />information: City or District, project name and location, contact person and <br />phone number, contact amount, project environment (river crossing, urban area <br />or rule), date of installation, pipe diameter, material, and maximum length of <br />each bore <br />B. Regulatory Requirements <br />Auger Boring, Jacking and Receiving Pits <br />a. Conform to Federal and State regulatory requirements for excavations, boring <br />and jacking <br />b. Obtain permit prior to starting construction and conform to requirements of <br />permit <br />c. Verify with Owner prior to obtaining permit(s) and any construction activity <br />Geotechnical Data <br />a. Geotechnical Data may or may not be provided for this project; it is the <br />responsibility of the contractor to make him/herself of the conditions of the site <br />b. If Geotechnical Data is made available to the Contractor by the Owner, the <br />Engineer, or the Geotechnical Consultant are used by the Contractor, the <br />Contractor shall assume all risks resulting from actual conditions differing from <br />conditions set out in the Geotechnical Data <br />Notifications <br />a. Notify CDOT and Owner/Engineer prior to construction <br />b. It is the responsibility to verify the necessary notification time with CDOT <br />1.6 PROJECT /SITE CONDITIONS <br />A. Unanticipated Conditions <br />Notify the Owner or Engineer of unexpected subsurface conditions and discontinue <br />work in affected area until notified by Owner /Engineer to resume work <br />Take emergency measures as required to protect persons and improvements <br />B. Environmental Requirements <br />1. Do not perform excavation or boring and jacking during storms, torrential rainfall, or <br />high winds <br />2. Monitor climatic conditions and anticipate conditions producing rainfall <br />3. Do not start excavation work or boring and jacking work when storms, torrential rains, <br />or high winds are forecast to occur within the next two hours <br />4. Stop excavating work or boring and jacking work, as appropriate, and secure <br />excavation before storms, torrential rains, or high winds occur <br />330523.16 -2 <br />
