Compacted material, see execution for requirements <br />E. Unsuitable Materials <br />1. All material removed in stripping and material that are perishable such as roots, trees, <br />brush, grass, debris, trash, decaying matter, or any other material that is unsuitable for <br />compaction <br />2. Frozen, high or low moisture materials or improper gradation materials will not be <br />allowed unless proper screening, manipulation, or blending with other materials can <br />be achieved as directed by Engineer <br />PART 3 - EXECUTION <br />3.1 PREPARATION <br />A. Protection <br />1. Protect any structures, surfaces, or areas around or within the work site from damage <br />during the excavation, filling, backfilling, compacting or finish grading <br />2. Do not move structures such as utility items, fences, trees etc. without notifying the <br />owner and appropriate utility company prior to construction <br />3. Protect site from erosion as necessary per local, state and federal requirements <br />4. Provide temporary fences or areas of access in order to. maintain operation of the <br />surrounding Iand uses and roadways <br />B. Surface Preparation <br />1. Clear within limits of earthwork operations as shown. Work includes removal of <br />trees, shrubs, fences, incidental structures, debris, trash and other obstructions prior to <br />excavation <br />2. Strip topsoil from within limits of earthwork operations as specified <br />3. Stockpile topsoil as directed by owner or owner's representative <br />4. Retain topsoil on station <br />3.2 CONSTRUCTION <br />A. Shoring, Sheeting and Bracing <br />1. Shore, brace or slope, its angle of repose or to an angle considered acceptable by the <br />Resident Engineer, banks of excavations to protect workmen, banks, adjacent paving, <br />structures, and utilities <br />312333 -4 <br />
