6.) Will the asphalt and concrete batch plant be protable/moveable? If not, please
indicate the dimensions of these structures, such as length, width and height. Will a
cement foundation be constructed for these units? If so, what will be their dimensions
(length, width and depth)
A: The asphalt and concrete plants are portable and moveable.
7.) Exhibit L Indicated a highwall will be created during the mining operation. What
will be the maximum length of the highwall at any given time during the operation and
what will be the slope?
A: The maximum length is 1500 feet and 40 foot high and will be vertical slopes
during mining.
8.) Exhibit G indicates a berm will be built on the north and east sides of the permit area
to control run off from leaving the mine area. Please indicate the dimensions of this
berm.
A: The berm will be constructed approximately 2' to 6' high using existing
strippings of topsoil.
9.) Will topsoil and overburden be removed from the "Stock Pile Area" indicated on the
Exhibit C maps?
A: Yes - topsoil and any overburden will be removed and stockpiled in the berm.
10.) Item 2f(iv) states there will be no re-vegetation. However, the designated post mine
land use is rangeland and item 2f(ii) states reseeding will be done per the seed mix
recommended by the NRCS. The Operator is obligated to establish diverse and self-
sustaining vegetation throughout the site prior to full site release. Please commit to
revegetating the site.
A: We will comply with the NRCS seed recommendation for seeding and we will
not be using mulch. There will be no tree or shrub planting.
11.) Will a sterile/non-competitive covercrop of sorghum-sudangrass be established at
the site to aid native grass establishment as recommended by the NRCS in the paragraph
below the seed mixture? The Division recommendsd following the NRCS
recommendation. Or, will mulch be used at the site? If so, what type will be used and
how many tons per acre will be applied.
A: We will follow NRCS recommendation. No mulch will be used.
12.) Will the perimeter side slopes be graded to a 3:1 horizontal to vertical ratio in Phase
A of the mining operation prior to mining phase B? Concurrent reclamation of the
perimeter slopes will likely lower the financial warranty amount.
