May Day Mine and Mill Site, Wildcat Mining Corporation, Original 110(2) Permit
Exhibit B
o Inspection of all mine portals and benches
o Inspection of Deadwood Gulch from La Plata River to May Day No 1 portal (where
possible)
o Inspection of Idaho Spring to the La Plata River
o Inspection of banks of La Plata River from water sample location SW-1 to SW-2
o Where springs or seeps are identified flow rate and field parameters will be recorded
and water quality samples will be collected in accordance with Standard Operating
Procedures Exhibit C Attachment C-5.
• Spring locations will be shown on a base plan. Field and analytical data will be included in
tabular form and submitted to DRMS on or before October 31, 2010
Groundwater
As discussed in Exhibit C mined rock will be disposed or discharged by a 4-inch HDPE pipe,
conveyor or front end loader to a shrink stope approximately 800 feet from the mine portal
and located on the north side of the May Day main entry. See Exhibit E-5. The shrink stope
disposal area is dry-water table is believed to ranee 200-300 feet below the rock repository
(Gonzalez, 2010)
Based on groundwater information reviewed to date and the well log for the onsite domestic
well it is not anticipated that the disposed mined rock will come into contact with any
groundwater through disposal in the stope. However, simultaneously with permitted activities,
a review of applicable literature as well as field ground truthing during various seasonal events
will be conducted to identify undocumented springs. A detailed work plan will be drafted and
provided to the DRMS for review and approval Any changes to mine disposal activities will be
submitted for approval to the DRMS.
Based on the design of operation at the May Day Mine and Mill site, it is not anticipated
groundwater will receive "drainage from the affected area" Rule 6.3.2(c). Mined rock will be
disposed underground either in bulk or slurry state. Rock disposal will not be disposed in a
saturated environment and the amount of moisture in the crushed rock will not exceed 40%
where typical moisture content of the mine rock in the disposal area are designed to be equal to
or less than 15% The maximum amount of water to be entering the disposal area during ore
processing will range between 1 and 10 gpm depending on production rates. All chemical-
associated disposal activities will be of such low concentrations that concerns for affecting
groundwater quality in conjunction with the disposal location above the water table, is minimal.
The interconnection of Little Deadwood Creek and the Mav Day surface water (and vice versa) is
evident The May Day Mine working and processing facility are located and will be managed to
mitigate affects to Deadwood Creek. Wildcat has incorporated surface water control and a
discharge control structure to manage water from the affected area.
June 28, 2010 Amendment M-1981-185
