<br />• Douglas Fir Forest.
<br />Aspen Forest
<br />The Aspen Forest is dominated by Quacking Aspen (Populus tremuoides), interspersed with Douglas Fir
<br />(Pseudostuga menziesii), Ponderosa Pine (Pinus Ponderosa) and White Fir (Abies concolor).
<br />The dominant shrub is Mountain Snowberry (Symphoricarpos oreophilus). Other shrubs found in the
<br />community include Chokecherry (Prunus virginiana), Wild Rose (Rosa sp), Gamble Oak (Quercus
<br />gambelli), Black Elderberry (Sambucus melanocarpa), Golden Current (Ribes auream), Oregon Grape
<br />(Berberis repes), Rocky Mountain Maple (Acer glabrum), Mountain Lover (Pachustima myrsinites),
<br />Thimbleberry (Rubus parv floras) and Serviceberry (Amelanchier sp).
<br />The herbaceous ground cover includes the following: Bluegrass (Poa sp.), Lupine (Lupinus sp.), Western
<br />Wheat Grass (Agropyron smithii), Yarrow (Achillea lanulosa), Common Nettle (Urtica dioica), Whipple
<br />Penstemon (Penstemon whippleanus), Dandelion (Taraxacum officinalis), Fremont Goosefoot
<br />(Chenopodium fremontii), Salsify (Tragopogon dubius), Clover (Trifolium sp.), American Vetch (Vicia
<br />Americana), Medowrue (Thalictrum sp.), Bracken (Pteridium aquilinum), Goldeneye (Viguiera
<br />multioral), Richardson Geranium (Geranium richardsonii), Mariposa-lily (Calochortus sp.), Timothy
<br />(Phleum sp.), Wild Rose (Rosa sp.), Scarlet Gilia (Ipomopsis aggregata), Gray's Fern-leaf Lousewort
<br />(Pedicularis grayi), Rosy Paintbrush (Castilleja rhexifolia), Porter's Lovage (Ligusticum porteri) and
<br />Western Wallflower (Erysimum asperum).
<br />Disturbed areas include the following plants: Curlyleaf Dock (Rumex crispis), Common Mullein
<br />(Verbascum Thapsus), Yellow Sweetclover (Melilotus officinalis), Cheatgrass (Bromus tectorum) and
<br />Tumble Mustard (Sisymbrium altissimum).
<br />Gambel Oak
<br />A variety shrubs exist underneath the dominant Gambel Oak (Quercas gambellii): Wild Rose (Rosa sp),
<br />Mountain Snowberry (Symphoricarpos oreophilus), Oregon Grape (Berberis repes), Serviceberry
<br />(Amelanchier sp), Mountain Lover (Pachustima myrsinites) and Chokecherry (Prunus virginiana).
<br />Within the Gambel Oak shrubland there is an occasional stand of Southwestern White Pine (Pinus
<br />strobiformis) with the following herbaceous plants: Sage (Artemisia franserioides), False Solomon Seal
<br />(Smilacina stellata), Smooth Aster (Aster laevis), Scarlet Gilia (Ipomopsis aggregagata), Wild Sweet Pea
<br />(Lathyrus sp.), Lupine (Lupinus sp.) Meadowrue (Thalictrum sp.) Bedstraw (Galium sp.), Bluegrass (Poa
<br />sp.), Mariposa-lily (Calochortus sp.), Goldeneye (Viguiera multiora), Golden-aster (Chrysopsis villosa).
<br />Douglas Fir Forest
<br />The Douglas Fir (Pseudostuga menziesii) Forest is interspersed with Quacking Aspen (Populus
<br />tremuoides), White Fir (Abies concolor) and Ponderosa Pine (Pinus Ponderosa).
<br />The Douglas Fir Forest has a poorer development of shrub and herbaceous layers under its canopy.
<br />Shrubs include Mountain Snowberry (Symphoricarpos oreophilus), Golden Current (Ribes aureum) and
<br />Elderberry (Sambucus sp.). Herbaceous plants include Colorado Columbine (Aquilegia caerulea),
