M I CORI ORATED GEORGE PYl3_ ROBINSON <br />CNVIRONMEN rAL AND ENGINEERING SERVICCS 1, MCH MUM P.E, <br />511WM-CICALLY 1WDON1_L1-71:01\1CALLY MTARED <br />MAY DAY MINE AND MILL SITE, WILDCAT MINING CORPORATION <br />110(2) PERMIT, <br />March 12, 2010 Amendment M-1981-185 <br />EXHIBIT B <br />Site Description <br />Rule 6.3.2 <br />The May Day Mine and Mill Site is located on the south slope of the La Plata Mountains at an elevation <br />of approximately 9,000 feet above mean sea level near the unincorporated community of May Day, La <br />Plata County, Colorado, within Sections 21 and 28, Township 36 North, Range 11 West at a latitude of <br />37°22' North, longitude 108°04'West. The area is within the Hesperus 7.5' Quadrangle, 1:24,000 <br />topographic map of the U. S. Geological Survey. The May Day Mine and Mill Site permit (1981 and <br />September 5, 1986) was originally approved for 9.9 acres which includes 3.44 acres at the Level 1 Portal, <br />3.31 acres at the Level 2 Portal and 3.14 acres at the Level 3 (Lamb) Portal (Figures E-1 and E-2, Exhibit <br />E - Map). <br />The climate at the May Day Mine and Mill site is typical climate for the Rocky Mountain-intermountain <br />western United States. The climate is distinctly marked by four seasons. Winter weather typically arrives <br />in November and lasts through March. Standing snow depths at the elevation of the May Day Mine and <br />Mill site rarely exceed six feet; the mine and mill are not situated in avalanche danger. The daily range of <br />winter temperatures is typically about 5 to 35 degrees F. Spring weather is warm and occasionally rainy. <br />Annual precipitation at the mine site averages about 18.5 inches, most of which arrives during the late <br />summer thunderstorms and as winter snow. Summers are generally dry with temperatures typically <br />between 45-90 degrees. Late summer days are regularly punctuated by heavy afternoon thundershowers <br />resulting from the monsoonal flow of moisture northward from the Gulf.
