will be ripped to alleviate compaction, regraded, topsoiled and
revegetated consistent with planned postmining land uses.
Coal Conveyors
Surface coal conveyors will include the main mine conveyor emerging
from the slope portal, and surface conveyors to convey coal to the raw
coal stockpile into, within, and out of the screen plant facility. These
stationary units will be constructed of standard conveyor components
mounted on steel framework and supports that are suitable for the belt
width and load capacity. Elevated conveyors will be supported by steel
leg structures resting on concrete footers.
All exposed conveyors and associated components will be equipped
with covers for weather protection and to reduce dust emissions.
Similarly, small enclosures or housings will be installed to cover belt
transfer points. Proposed surface conveyor systems for Northfield's
operations include the following:
- Main haulage conveyor from slope: approximately 40 feet long
_.from portal to discharge point; 42 inch wide belt.
- Raw coal transfer conveyor from slope conveyor:
approximately 110' long; 42 inch wide belt.
- Elevated raw coal conveyor to raw coal stockpile:
approximately 430' feet long; 42 inch wide belt; approximately
60 feet above ground at discharge point.
- Elevated conveyor to feet crushing and screening plant: 100
feet long; 42 inch wide belt; approximately 18 feet above
ground level at discharge point.
- Two transfer belts at ground level withing crushing and
screening facility: approximately 120 feet total length; 36 inch
wide belts.
- Radial stacker belt from crushing and screening to clean coal
stockpiles: 100 feet long; 36 inch wide belt.
Upon completion of mining, conveyor components will be disassembled
and salvaged for resale. Conveyor structural members and supports
will be salvaged or demolished prior to removal from the site. All
concrete footers will be demolished and disposed of in a designated
disposal area and covered during backfilling operations.
Coal Stockpiles
Coal stockpiles will be constructed and managed in the facilities area
and will have fluctuating capacities depending on mine production and
coal sales rates. The proposed stockpiles will be of relatively small size
and subsequently will not create significant fugitive dust emissions.
2.05.3 -16 Revised 12/04/09, TR -01
