C-1996-083 - PR-12
Adequacy Review - MLT
04 May 2010
Abbreviation Shown
on Ma 07 Stratigraphic Unit from :Permit Text
Tw Wasatch Formation
Kmvo Ohio Creek Conglomerate
Kmvb Mesaverde Formation - Barren Member
Kmvc Mesaverde Formation - Coal Bearing Member
Kmvr Mesaverde Formation - Rollins Sandstone Member
If the Division's correlations are correct, please include the abbreviations within the Stratigraphy
text so that the map may be more easily interpreted.
Subsection (3)(a)(iii)(A)&(B) on page 2.04-20 should be modified to include Map 08A for drill
hole logs, etc.
Section 2.05.6(6) Subsidence Survey, Monitoring and Control Plan
A discussion of the Bruce Park Dam begins on page 2.05-136. The permit text continues to refer
to the Bruce Park Dam, while the various permit maps use the name "Terror Creek Reservoir".
In the interest of clarity, please consider adding, "and Bruce Park Dam" to the feature on the
various maps and/or modify the permit text to explain that the reservoir formed by the Dam is
the Terror Creek Reservoir.
Discussion of the Bruce Park landslide begins at the top of page 2.05-137. While the feature is
analyzed in detail in the referenced Yeh study, the location of the landslide is not apparent on
Map 06 - Geological Hazards. Please modify Map 06 to indicate the location of the Bruce Park
landslide feature.
The third paragraph on page 2.05-137 describes the Hubbard Creek road. Please update the text
to incorporate the new Hubbard Creek Fansite.
The 3rd paragraph on page 2.05-140 refers to the potential impact to the Bruce Park landslide of
mine-induced seismic activity. Please consider modifying this paragraph to include a reference
to the Yeh 2006 study.
The second paragraph on page 2.05-143 seems to be internally contradictory: "The sandstone
ledge that forms Dove Cave could collapse. However the sandstone ledge will not be damaged
since it is not within the area to be affected by mining." (Emphasis added) Please verify that the
text reads as it is intended to read, or change as appropriate.
According to subsection (c)(i) on page 2.05-144, the subsidence monitoring program for the
Bruce Park dam and Bruce Park landslide will be suspended. Text regarding the monitoring
program has also been struck through on page 2.05-149. However, page 2.05-158 appears to
