• DILL PIT
Exhibit C
d) Present indications are that the deposit will have approximately 10 to 25 feet to
be mined to a minimum 2' above the groundwater depth. The depth mined will be a
minimum 2 feet above the ground water depth and varies across the site because of the
topography and the groundwater depth, depending on the amount of moisture received.
The greater depths of excavation will be in the areas of the hills surrounding the drainage
swale. As the elevation increases, the greater the excavation depth.
e) The major components of the mining operation are limited. Access to the pit
will be by a gravel driveway from Highway 24. This gravel driveway access is located
north and east of the pit area and was previously used for pit access onto the property.
The drive access location is approximately 0.30 miles east of the Highway 24 and County
Road 189 intersection north of the pit area. The gravel drive will be 20' wide and will
access the pit at the northeast corner of the pit area. The driveway area is included as part
of the proposed pit area. There will be no office or shop/maintenance facility. There may
be some storage sheds and trailers. The equipment to be used on the site can be loaders,
trucks, belly dump, end dump, dozer, grader (maintainer), scraper, track hoe, flat bed
trucks (low boys), asphalt lay down machine, a screening and/or wash plant, a portable
asphalt hot plant, and portable scales. The production will be based on the demand
needed and is anticipated to vary from year to year, depending on the scheduling of larger
projects. Since this is a dry open pit operation there will be no underground openings
such as adits or ventilation facilities. The exhibit "E" map shows the pertinent details.
f) There are no existing significant disturbance to the land surface. There will be
no mine benches, impoundments, or waste rock disposal areas.
g) A new access road from Highway 24 to the pit is needed and will be part of the
9.9 acre area. No improvements on existing roads are needed. Because the driveway will
be located at an existing access drive and gate, a culvert will not be needed. There will be
no associated drainage or runoff conveyance structures to be built with this operation.
All drainage will be directed through the active pit to the existing drainage on the north
side of the pit area. The existing drainage swale stays on the owners property for
approximately 0.50 miles until it crosses Highway 24 to the property to the north.
