•
DILL PIT
Exhibit D
1) This application includes the following information in accordance with the
regulation: RULE 3.
a) When and what depth of overburden will be replaced in relation to extraction.
The soil types present have little to no topsoil and some overburden with the surface
being LOAM. 6"-12" of the top layer will be saved as plant growth media to be replaced
in reclamation.
b) Maximum gradient of reclaimed slopes (horizontal:vertical). The maximum
gradient on reclaimed backslopes will be 4H:1V or flatter to accommodate the rangeland
use proposed by the Lessor.
c) Measures that will be taken to revegetate the site:
i) The growth media will be replaced at a depth of 6" to 12" and the backslopes
finished at 4H:1 V. The pit will drain to the north side of the east portion of the site (See
maps). This north end of the pit area will remain lower than the drainage Swale north of
the pit area, providing an area for temporary storm run-off detention and sediment
settlement. With the sand/gravel soils at the site, any water held in the low area will
percolate into the soil within 72 hours.
ii) Time of seeding, seedbed preparation, type, application rate and soil
incorporation, method of fertilization application. Fall seeding is preferred and proposed
if at all possible. Reshaping will be done using the saved topsoil at a depth of 6" to 12"
all the slopes shall be at no greater than 4H:IV. The topsoil will be spread and smoothed
but not hard packed. Seed is to be planted at a depth of/2 inch with a double disc with 8"
drill spacing. If the seed is to be broadcast, double the amounts of seeding shown below.
The fertilizer used is to be Nitrogen (N) at a recommended 4 pounds per acre. The
recommended ground cover to be used is a mulch to control erosion and provide cover.
Seeding rates as follows: per NRCS
PLS Rates PLS/AC to use % Rate AC to be Total
Species Non-Irr.
