AREA 4: Approximately 14.0 acres
As this site is developed, the possibility exists that the gravel and sand deposit will not be
as uniformly distributed as anticipated. The best information we have came from test
holes dug in Areas 3 and 4. Therefore, these areas may become the primary site for initial
mining and processing should development of Area 2 prove to not be successful.
Otherwise, Area 4 will be mined with finished slopes along the west and north sides as
outlined above.
AREA 5: Approximately 7 acres
This is projected to be the last area mined and will follow the basic pattern of creating
final slopes on the exterior and using the stripped topsoil to cover earlier phases or be
stockpiled as the situation dictates.
GENERAL INFORMATION:
This sight consists of sand, gravel and structural fill deposits that are estimated to be
between 40 to 80 feet in thickness with the actual deposit to be more thoroughly defined
during the mining process. The material to be mined is an alluvial deposit and it is not
anticipated that mining will involve the shale bedrock. It is not anticipated that mining
material from this site will require blasting. It is anticipated that a 30 foot buffer zone will
be established on the inside edge of the exterior boundary of the pit parcel. Although
there may be disturbance to the vegetation in the buffer zone, no significant excavation
will occur in the buffer.
The material produced by this pit is anticipated to be used for structural fill and road beds
and to be used as an aggregate for the preparation of hot bituminous pavement with a
possible consideration for the use in the preparation of concrete. It will be processed on
site with crushing, screening, stockpiling. Any hot asphalt batch plant and/or concrete
batch plant is currently anticipated to be situated off site.
MINE LIFE
This gravel pit is being developed for use in the development of roads and improvements
within the proposed Dutton Creek development (subdivision or planned unit
development). Currently, no export of material from this pit for use outside of the Dutton
Creek project is anticipated. The construction phase of the development is anticipated to
span less than 20 years from commencement until completion, however for the purposes
of this application, we are using a 25 proposed mine life to account for future changes in
the rate of development.
Page 9
