Denison Mines (USA) Corp. <br />Van 4 Mine - Ore Storage Pad <br />D. Backfilling of the anchor trench shall be conducted when the geomembrane is in its most <br />contracted (taut) state. <br />E. Care shall be taken when backfilling and compacting the trenches to prevent any damage to the <br />lining materials. <br />F. The anchor trench shall be backfilled with fill materials as shown on the Drawings. Compaction <br />shall be as specified in Paragraph 3.05. <br />3.05 FIELD QUALITY CONTROL <br />A. Field inspection and testing will be performed by the ENGINEER. <br />B. The following table summarizes the compaction requirements. <br />Material Type Compaction Standard Proctor <br />Sub grade Material and Access Ram Native Material - <br />92 percent <br />Backfill - Bedding and Cover Material 95 percent <br />Anchor Trench Backfill 92 percent <br />C. In-place density testing will be performed in accordance with ASTM D 1556 or ASTM D 6938 <br />and ASTM D 3017. <br />D. Laboratory compaction testing to determine the subgrade and backfill soil material's maximum <br />dry density will be performed in accordance with ASTM D 698. <br />E. If tests indicate Work does not meet specified requirements, perform remedial action as described <br />below. <br />1. Compaction below specified minimum: Apply additional effort, or scarify, moisture <br />condition, recompact, and retest. <br />2. Moisture content outside of specified limits during compaction: <br />a. Moisture content below specified minimum - Scarify the depth of the lift, <br />moisture condition, mix to achieve uniform moisture content, compact, and <br />retest. Application of moisture to the top of a compacted lift will not be allowed <br />to increase the moisture content without the prior approval of the ENGINEER <br />and on a case by case basis. <br />b. Moisture content above specified maximum - Scarify the depth of the lift, allow <br />to air dry, mix to achieve uniform moisture content, compact, and retest or <br />remove the wet material. Mixing of dry material to lower the moisture content <br />will not be allowed without the prior approval of the ENGINEER and on a case <br />by case basis. <br />Moisture content outside of specified limits after compacted and approved prior to <br />covering: <br />Determine depth of material outside of specified limits and correct as specified above. <br />JOB NO. 64986. 10.1
