Denison Mines (USA) Corp. <br />Van 4 Mine - Ore Storage Pad <br />A. Proof roll the subgrade with a loaded scraper, loaded water truck, or approved equipment, to <br />identify soft spots. Remove soft or yielding subgrade soils identified by the proof roll to the depth <br />determined by the ENGINEER. Where required for site grading, native material shall be placed. <br />B. The final smooth surface shall be smooth-drum or wheel rolled with rubber-tire equipment to <br />provide a flat surface free of protrusions. Where protrusions greater than approximately 2 inches <br />occur, these areas shall be replaced to provide a smooth surface for bedding material placement. <br />C. The subgrade material shall be compacted to a relative density as specified in Paragraph 3.05. <br />D. All berms, excluding the access ramp area, shall be compacted to the greatest extent practicable. <br />E. The access ramp native material shall be compacted to a relative density as specified in Paragraph <br />3.05. <br />3.03 BACKFILLING - BEDDING AND COVER MATERIAL <br />A. Do not place frozen material as backfill material, and do not place backfill on frozen ground. <br />B. Backfill material shall be placed to the designed lines and grades and according to these <br />Specifications. <br />C. If,.in the opinion of the ENGINEER, the surface of the prepared subgrade or the rolled surface of <br />any layer of the backfill in place is too wet for proper compaction of the layer of backfill material <br />to be placed thereon, it shall be removed and allowed to dry or shall be worked with discs, <br />scarifier, or other equipment to reduce the moisture content to the required amount, and then <br />compacted before the next layer of backfill material is placed. <br />D. Backfill material shall be placed only after subgrade has been adequately compacted and <br />approved by the ENGINEER. <br />E. When material is too dry for proper compaction and/or is below the minimum moisture content <br />specified, the ENGINEER shall spray water on the backfill material and work the moisture into <br />the backfill material by discing or scarifying or other approved means until a uniform distribution <br />of moisture is obtained. <br />F. The bedding and cover material shall be compacted to a relative density as specified in Paragraph <br />3.05. <br />3.04 ANCHOR TRENCH <br />A. The anchor trench shall be constructed as shown on the Drawings and as specified herein. <br />B. The anchor trench shall be adequately drained to prevent water ponding and softening to adjacent <br />soils. <br />C. The amount of trench open at any time shall be limited to one day of geomembrane installation <br />capacity. Geosynthetic material in the anchor trench shall be temporary anchored with sandbags <br />or other suitable materials. <br />JOB NO. 64986.10.1 2
