• No travel of unauthorized vehicles will be allowed on anything other
than established roads. Employee and mine vehicles and other haulage
equipment will be restricted only to the haul and access roads.
Coal Loadout Facilities, The coal from the Bear No. 3 Portals will be
transported from the mine via a conveyor. The coal will be fed onto
another conveyor belt and discharge through a stacking tube into a coal
stockpile. The coal from the stockpile will be reclaimed and placed on
another conveyor where it will be transported to a truck Loadout bin.
The coal Loadout diagram for the Bear No. 3 Mine is shown on the Mine
Facilities Map (Map 10).
The coal Loadout operations at the Bear No. 3 facilities will be
equipped with a water spraying system. Coal transfer points on the
conveyors will likewise be equipped with water sprays. The truck
Loadout hopper will be enclosures designed to prevent excessive dust.
The stacking tube will be used to minimize dust emission at the coal
• stockpile. All conveyors will be partially enclosed.
Coal dust from the existing coal crushing and Loadout facilities in the
North Fork of the Gunnison River has not been a problem because of
infrequency of strong winds in the vicinity of the Bear Coal Company's
operations. If coal dust becomes a problem at the planned storage
piles, the water truck from the mine with high pressure pump and nozzle
will be available for suppression. No thermal dryers are to be used at
the facilities.
Disturbance. Because the Bear Coal Company is planning to mine coal
from an underground operation, the area of land affected for surface
operations and facilities within the permit area will be minimal.
Topsoil will be removed only to the extent necessary to accommodate the
planned surface facility relocation. Likewise the topsoil will not be
rehandled once it is initially removed.

Revised May, 1987
2.05-48
