DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES
DIVISION OF WATER RESOURCES
February 19, 2008
Joseph J. Dudash
Environmental Protection Specialist RECEIVED
Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, Colorado 80203 MAR 10 2008
Re: Bowie No. 2 Mine (Permit No. C-1996-083) Divis'°" "" kwiamation,
Technical Revision Application No. 53 (TR-53) Mining and Safety
Monitoring Well and Dewatering Well
Dear Mr. Dudash:
Bill Ritter, Jr.
Governor
Harris D. Sherman
Executive Director
Dick Wolfe, P.E.
Director
The Division of Water Resources has reviewed the Bowie No. 2 Mine (Permit No. C-
1996-083), Technical Revision Application No. 53 (TR-53). The revision proposes to
construct two wells. One well would be constructed and used for monitoring water levels
in the old D-seam mine workings. If water is found in the old workings, the second well
would be constructed and used to dewater the old D-seam mine workings. Water that is
pumped from the second well would be discharged to Hubbard Creek via a water line.
The SEO has no objections to the applicant's proposed project, as long as, pumped
water is not put to any use and is discharged to Hubbard Creek as proposed in the
revision.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact me at this office at (303) 866-3587.
Sincerely,
Mark J.
