STORMWATER MANAGEML PLAN 2/20/09 <br />Maryland Creek Ranch <br />SPILL PREVENTION AND REPSPONSE <br />(SWMP TRAINING) <br />Potential Spill Areas - can be anywhere at the site: <br />1. Loading and unloading areas <br />2. Fuel and oil storage areas <br />3. Transportation and routine production activities <br />Spill Prevention - to reduce the chance that a spill will occur or impact storm water quality, the following <br />measures have been and must continue to be implemented: <br />1. Storage quantities of fuels, oils, and waste materials are kept to a minimum amount necessary to <br />fulfill daily operations without delay. <br />2. Leak detection devices, overflow controls, and diversion or containment berms are installed <br />where required. <br />3. Regular visual inspections are performed to identify signs of wear on tanks, drums, containers, or <br />other storage shelves, and berms. <br />4. Regular visual inspections are performed to identify signs of sloppy housekeeping which could <br />potentially cause spills. <br />5. Preventative maintenance is performed on storage tanks, valves, pumps, pipes, and other <br />equipment. <br />6. Filling procedures for tanks and other equipment are used that minimize spills. <br />7. Less or non-toxic materials are substituted for toxic materials when possible. <br />8. Equipment such as brooms, shovels, barriers, absorbents, containers, front-end loaders, etc. are <br />available on site for quick clean up of spills. <br />9. Safety equipment such as respirators/dust masks, eye protections, fire extinguishers, and two- <br />way radios are maintained on site and can be used in case of a spill. <br />In case of a significant spill - we may need to contact outside help from companies or spill responders <br />trained in clean-up of significant spills: <br />1. Take appropriate measures to contain, divert, or isolate the spill as much as possible <br />4.
