15.0 Construction Quality Assurance Quality Control
. Plan
Adequate Quality Assurance/ Quality Control (QA/QC) will be conducted in
accordance with manufacturer's instructions. For informational purposes, product
data from Colorado Lining International was used to develop Exhibit 15-1 which
provides specifications for a 30 mil PVC geomembrane. Additional information can be
obtained from www.coloradolining.com.
Exhibit 15-1 PVC 30 mil Geomembrane Liner S ecifications
is
Certified Properties ASTM Standard Value
Thickness D-5199 30 +/- 1.5 mil
0.76 +/- 0.04 mm
Tensile Properties
Strength at Break
Elongation
Modulus at 100% D-882 (Min)
73 Ibs/in
380%
32 Ibs/in
Tear Strength D-1004 Min 8 Ibs
Dimensional Stability D-1204 Max Ch 3%
Low Temperature Impact D-1790 -20 de F
Index Properties ASTM Standard Value
Specific Gravity D-792 (Typical) 1.2 /cc
Water Extraction Percent Loss Max D-1239 0.15%
Average Plasticizer Molecular Weight D-2124 400
Volatile Loss (Percent Loss Max) D-1203 0.7%
Soil Burial
Break Strength
Elongation
Modulus at 100% G-160 (Max Chg)
5%
20%
20%
Hydrostatic Resistance D-751 100 psi
Shear Properties ASTM Standard Value
Shear Strength D-882 58.4 Ibs/in
Peel Strength D-882 15 Ibs/in
Notes: A similar product from a different vendor may be procured;
therefore, geomembrane specifications may vary.
Prior to installation of the liner, a QC inspector will verify that the surface bedding of
the liner has been smoothened and freed of all sharp rocks (all rock and stone greater
than 1 inch diameter), objects, vegetation, and other miscellaneous debris.
Immediately prior to the placement of backfill, the geomembrane, seams, and non-
seam areas will be visually inspected by a QC inspector for defects, holes, or damage
due to weather conditions or construction activities. At the QC inspector's discretion,
the surface of the geomembrane liner will be brushed, blown, or washed as necessary
if the amount of dust, mud, or foreign material inhibits inspection or functioning of
the overlying material. All damage to the geomembrane liner will be repaired prior to
the placement of backfill. Detailed QA/QC requirements will be provided in the
technical specifications provided in the design for DRMS review and approval.
During the placement of backfill, soil will not be dropped onto the geomembrane
from a height greater than three feet. The soil will be pushed out over the
geomembrane in an upward tumbling motion. Soil will be placed from the bottom of
• the slope upward. Suitable backfill, typically with rocks no larger than 0.5 inches in
15-1
T:\64986-Denison Mines\Task Order4 - EPP Sunday Mines Grcup-Van4\Van4\DRMS RTC and Revised EPP\FINAL DRMS Report - EPP Van4.doc
