Primary access to the property is through the Bunn Ranch site to the west. Given the maximum
production of the site coupled with the available trucks, it is estimated that a peak of 3-4 trips per
hours will utilize the haul route at maximum production. Since mining at Bunn Ranch will be
nearly completed at the start of the Gehrman Pit, the number of trucks transporting finished
product off of Bunn Ranch is not expected to increase. Only 30 ton capacity rock trucks will be
used to transport material from the Gehrman Pit to the Bunn Ranch processing facilities. Only 14
ton and 24 ton capacity trucks will be used to transfer material off of the Bunn Ranch site after
processing. It is expected that 90% of the trucks moving the products off site will be of the belly
dump type. In order to control dust, water will be used on an as needed basis.
2. Mining Timetable
The following timetable is a best estimate of the sequence of operations for the life of the mine
after June of 2009 and is based on mining and selling 125,000 tons of total product per year:
Table D-3
Task # Description Time Needed
(Months)
1 Prepare sediment pond and construct berm along Yampa
River branch
0.5
2 Strip topsoil and overburden from phase 1. 1.0
3 Mine phase 1. 26.4
4 Mine phase 2 and reclaim phase 1. 31.6
5 Mine phase 3 and reclaim phase 2. 33.5
13 Reclaim phase 3 and the sediment pond. 2.0
Total months 95.05
Total years 7.92
The mining schedule is planned to minimize disturbance by reclaiming areas as additional
mining is undertaken. Note: If large contracts are awarded to the site, production could increase
to the permit maximum, thereby curtailing the life of the pit. On the other hand, if contracts are
less than anticipated, the life of the pit could be extended. This table is based on a reasonable
projection of average production rates.
Gehrman Pit October 09 D-3
