With an average depth
of 4.0 feet, the capacity of the pond is 2.0 acre-feet. The topsoil from the excavation of Phase 1
will be stored in a topsoil storage area along the north and east sides of the pit. Upon the
completed mining of Phase 3 any remaining topsoil will be used along the slopes in. The topsoil and overburden from a new
area will be used to reclaim the previous area. This will reduce material moving as well as reduce
the maximum area to be reclaimed. Any fines from the crushing/screening operation will also be
salvaged and used in the reclamation. A table of expected mining lives for each phase is included
in Table D-2. The life of each phase is based on the anticipated annual average tonnage. This
does not include time needed to perform final reclamation.
Gehrman Pit October 09 D-2
