2. Sediment control facilities controlling hydrologic balance and preventing off site
damage will be installed and remain providing for a stable configuration consistent
with the proposed reclamation. The methods of reclamation will be: 2-ton
straw mulch/acre and weed control will be as necessary. Seedbeds will be
firm and clean. Final slopes in unconsolidated material graded to no
steeper than 3:1 sloping toward the pond areas. All level areas and graded
slopes to be seeded and vegetated.
3. Species recommended or reclamation by the DRM&S are: (Rate should be
doubled for broadcast seeding)
i. Bluebunch Wheatgrass 5.0 PLS per acre
ii. Western wheatgrass 2.9 PLS per acre
iii. Crested Wheatgrass 2.0 PLS per acre
iv. Indian Ricegrass 1.0 PLS per acre
v. A total of 76.3 PLS will be required for possible 7.0 acres
(6.20ac.actual) of reclamation. (10.9 PLS/acre... added extra for
some additional seed will be used for possible topsoil stockpiles
and seeding buffer areas.)
4. The seeding operation shall be by drilling when possible, with a drill spacing of
8 - 12 inches and a planting depth of 1/4 to '/2 inch. As stated above in 2, 2-tons
straw mulch/acre and weed control will be as necessary. Seedbeds will be
firm and clean tilled. Final slopes in unconsolidated material graded to no
steeper than 3:1. No shrub or tree species will be planted at the site. Seeding
of stockpiled topsoil for stabilization will be broadcast and raked by hand using
the same recommended seed mix as above. Recommended seedbed preparation
date is late June with July 1 to 15 recommended for seeding.
(d) There will be a small pond (average water surface <2 acres) constructed as part
of reclamation activities. The future use of the site is planned as this water
surface and for general agriculture (small wildlife habitat improvement due to
pond). Fences and the gate will remain after reclamation is completed.
(e) There will be no waste rock dumps, underground openings, plant facilities
and/or buildings constructed or used during the mining activities and as such
no reclamation treatment is necessary for these items. Stormwater control
features such as berms ditches and silt fences will be used as part of active
mining activities. Silt fencing will be removed prior to the final grade
operation of reclamation and disposed of offsite. Berms, ditches and any
temporary road will be incorporated into the final grade prior to topsoil
application. The final grade will have a general slope of 3:1 maximum.
Excavation activities will disturb approximately 6.20 acres total.
