(d) Thickness of deposit to be mined.
The target aggregate materials consist of very gravelly sand; 50% gravel and 10%
cobbles. This deposit extends from an approximate five (5) to fifteen (15) feet
BGL. Total deposit thickness is from 9 to 10 feet in thickness.
(e) Major components of the mining operation.
1. Access to the site will be off a private road owned by the Landowner. A
fence surrounds the site perimeter. Process equipment will operate either
within the excavation footprint and/or at the NE corner of the site as shown
on the maps.
2. Perimeter Buffer areas will be used to temporally stockpile topsoil by the
fence and overburden materials along the top edge of the excavated area.
Temporary process operations and some overburden and product stockpiling
will be done within the excavation footprint.
3. There are no shop, office or maintenance buildings presently onsite or
proposed.
4. There are plans to provide for portable crushing or screening plants and/or a
possible temporary asphalt plant to process material at this site as needed. All
material will be handled onsite using a dragline, tracked excavators,
bulldozers and front-end loaders to temporarily stockpile and load to haul
trucks. Material stockpiles may be temporary or may be produced and
reduced on a daily basis and will be conveniently located adjacent to active
mine pit areas as excavation activities proceed.
5. There will be no under ground openings such as ventilation facilities or adits.
The operation will be an open pit operation.
(f) Dimensions of any significant disturbance to land surface.
Approximately 6.20 acres will be disturbed by mining. Buffer areas may be
disturbed due to topsoil stockpiling and will be graded and seeded as part of
the excavation backfilling and concurrent reclamation activities at the site.
Mining will start at west end and move to the east and north as shown on the
Exhibit E maps. Slopes would be 3:1 or less into the pond area.
2. A small water surface of less than 2 acres will be created. There will be no
mine benches.
