October 2004 -29- 043 -2170
•
6.1.1 Conformance Testing
Geomembrane manufactured by Poly - Flex was installed in the OSA. A Golder representative
performed geomembrane conformance sampling at the Poly -Flex plant in Grand Prairie, Texas.
Samples were also sent to Golder's geosynthetic laboratory in Duluth, Georgia, for conformance
testing. Geomembrane rolls were not used on the project unless approved by Golder based on
conformance test results.
Prior to 40 -mil and 80 -mil geomembrane arrival to the site, Golder performed 22 conformance tests at
a frequency of one test per 143,500 square feet, exceeding the minimum specified testing frequencies
of one test per 150,000 square feet. One of the conformance tests failed to meet the average thickness
requirements. Golder conducted additional conformance testing to bound the failing sample. The
failing rolls were rejected and not delivered to the project site. Conformance testing for the 40 -mil
smooth and 80 -mil single -sided textured geomembrane used for Phase lVc OSA construction met
specifications. Conformance test results are presented in Appendix K -1.
6.1.2 DepIgMent Monitoring
0 Geomembrane panel deployment monitoring performed by Golder included:
• Observation of panel surface condition and panel overlap;
• Assignment of panel numbers;
• Verification of factory roll number and receipt of complete certification prior to
allowing deployment;
• Measurement of sheet thickness;
• Measurement of ambient air temperature at time of deployment;
• Documentation of deployed panel lengths;
• Development of panel layout record drawing; and
• Observation of the Phase IVc to Phase M tie -in.
Prior to the deployment of geomembrane, Golder and Poly-Flex verified that the subgrade was free of
soft spots, protrusions, angular particles, abrupt grade changes, and loose soil. Golder and Poly -Flex
• verified that the SLF surface had been proof - rolled, and was free of desiccation cracks.
