October 2004 -30- 043 -2170
surface of the SL>~ appeared rough, Ames provided repair and re- compaction over the affected area.
• Poly -Flex provided written certification of geomembrane subgrade acceptance. The subgrade
acceptance certificates are presented in Appendix G.
Golder assigned each geomembrane panel a consecutive number. Single -sided textured 80 -mil
geomembrane panels deployed in the OSA were designated by C -1 through C -811. Golder marked
the panel designation and roll number directly on each panel after it was deployed. The
geomembrane record drawing, showing the geomembrane panel layout and destructive testing, is
presented in Record Drawing No. 5 (Appendix A).
During geomembrane deployment, Golder measured sheet thickness with a micrometer. Golder
measured sheet thickness at five random locations along one edge of each geomembrane panel. The
average thickness specified for the 80 -mil geomembrane was 80 -mil. For the 80 -mil geomembrane,
project specifications required that the average of the five thickness measurements be no less than the
80 -mil and that no individual measurement be less than nominal thickness minus 8 -mil (i.e., 72 mil).
The thickness monitoring provided by Golder indicated that all of the panels met or exceeded project
requirements.
Golder personnel measured deployed panel length using a measuring wheel. Recorded lengths were
approximate, and may not reflect any trimming or adjustments made for final placement or anchor
trench lengths.
Golder personnel observed the surface of each deployed panel. Golder logged any penetration defects
and marked them on the panel. Section 6.1.4 provides further discussion of repairs. Golder also
observed the overlap of each panel with adjacent panels to verify that sufficient overlap for seaming
existed. Golder logged insufficient panel overlaps as defects and marked them for correction.
Ames surveyed all panel intersections and destructive seam sample locations. Using these points,
Golder has provided the panel layout record drawing (Record Drawing No. 5), in Appendix A.
The LLDPE geomembrane deployment observations are presented in Appendix K -2.
e% am70% MMCert-Qnee rvo-1004104nl7&040&124Mcenftrvwoc Golder Associates
