0 2 05 2 Operation Plan - Estimated Area for the Life of the Ope r a tions <br />At this time no further coal mining will occur at the Carbon Junction Mine. The mine has been <br />reclaimed. <br />2 05 2(1) Production Methods and Equipment <br />The Carbon Junction Mine was planned as a steeply dipping seam open pit mining operation, <br />extracting one thick coal seam above a competent sandstone base. Trucks and shovel (and <br />backhoe) were used to conduct overburden extraction and coal removal. <br />No further coal mining will occur at the Carbon Junction Mine under this permit. The mine has <br />been reclaimed. Remaining activities will be limited to those necessary to monitor reclamation. <br />2 05.2(2) Operation Description <br />0 <br />• <br />Activities at the Carbon Junction Mine are solely related to reclamation and monitoring. The mine <br />plan map revised in 2002 shows two foot contour intervals derived from aerial photography in the <br />1 st quarter of 2002. The base topographic map was developed by La Plata County.
