(6) There are no other materials at the site that would be suitable for
vegetation requirements.
(7) Topsoil material will be replaced in as even a manner as possible.
The operator will commit to replacing approximately four (4) inches of
topsoil over the entire site. Fertilizer or other soil amendments will be added
to the replaced topsoil, if soil tests indicate the need. The local SCS may be
contacted to determine their recommendations prior to topsoil replacement.
(8) Vegetative piles (if constructed) shall be removed from the area prior
to final reclamation.
3.1.10 Revegetation
(1) Revegetation of the entire site is a part of the reclamation plan. The
site will be reclaimed as non-irrigated pasture. The seed mix for the site has
been recommended by the local SCS office. It includes introduced species
due to the proposed after-use of the site. See the attached letter for this
information.
(2) The proposed reclamation for this site does not include forest
planting.
(3) As the reclamation choice is pastureland, all slopes at the site shall be
such that the area can be easily traversed by livestock. Seeding will be done
using a grass drill or broadcast spreaders.
(4) The local SCS office has made a recommendation of the preparation
and revegetation of the site. Their recommendations will be followed to
help establish a long lasting, self-sustaining plant community.
(5) The underlying site material shall be scarified prior to the placement
of the topsoil to provide a good bond between the substratum and the
topsoil. Soil amendments shall be incorporated into the topsoil prior to
replacement if fertility tests indicate the need for additional nutrients.
(6) Weed control will be done primarily by mechanical methods and will
be employed for all noxious week species that could potentially invade the
site. Periodic mowing would be done when weeds reach a height of 6 to 12
inches in the first growing season. Control through herbicides will only be
employed as a last resort if mechanical methods are not effective.
