0+00 (from approximately station 40+00 to station 0+00 in the proposed design). This
change requires the creation of an overland channel (across contour) for the ditch and
relocates the lower portion of the ditch out of what appears to be the natural drainage.
Finally, based on proposed Map 33A, it appears as though the newly proposed East
Taylor Ditch will begin at an elevation of approximately 8,025 feet (versus the starting
elevation of just above 8,000 feet for currently approved East Taylor Ditch). This change
in the starting elevation, along with the change in the intercept point on the Taylor
Tributary Ditch, will change the overall slope of the East Taylor Ditch.
Taylor Tributary Ditch - Colowyo is proposing to lengthen the Taylor Tributary Ditch
by approximately 113 feet (from its currently approved length of 11,648 feet to a
proposed length of 11,761 feet). The ditch begins at approximately the same point (at an
elevation of approximately 7,900 feet). The lengthening of the ditch appears to be the
result of the addition of some meandering between stations 35+00 and 15+00. This 113
foot lengthening of the ditch will have a very minor change on the overall slope of the
ditch. Colowyo is also proposing to change the intercept locations of the West Pit Ditch
and the Taylor Ditch. Currently, the approved design for the Taylor Tributary Ditch has
the West Pit Ditch intercepting it at approximately station 77+00. The proposed design
has the West Pit Ditch intercepting the Taylor Tributary Ditch at approximately station
79+00. Additionally, the approved design has the Taylor Ditch intercepting the Taylor
Tributary Ditch at approximately station 29+00. The proposed design has the Taylor
Ditch intercepting the Taylor Tributary Ditch at approximately station 34+00.
Taylor Ditch - Colowyo is proposing to shorten the Taylor Ditch approximately 400 feet
in length (from its currently approved length of approximately 1,500 feet to a proposed
length of approximately 1,100 feet). The overall slope of the Taylor Ditch is being
increased from approximately 14% to a proposed slope of approximately 16%. Within
that slope increase, however, is an even greater slope increase in the middle segment of
the ditch. Colowyo is proposing to increase the slope from approximately station 9+00 to
approximately station 3+00 from the currently approved slope of 12.5% (75 foot drop
over 600 feet) to a proposed slope of 25% (150 foot drop over 600 feet). This change
gives the proposed Taylor Tributary Ditch profile three distinct straight zones (relatively
flat zones at the top and bottom and the very steep zone in the middle). This is in contrast
with the more natural appearance of the currently approved profile for the Taylor Ditch,
which is a relatively constant slope over the entire 1,500 foot length of the ditch.
Colowyo is also proposing to change the location of where the Taylor Ditch intercepts the
Taylor Tributary Ditch. The currently approved intercept point is at approximately
station 29+00 of the Taylor Tributary Ditch. Colowyo is proposing to move that
intercept point of the Taylor Ditch to approximately station 34+00 of the Taylor
Tributary Ditch.
West Pit Ditch - The West Pit Ditch appears to remain unchanged. The length, the
starting and ending elevations and the configuration appear to be the same in Technical
Revision 83 as they are in the approved design. The only possible change is the intercept
point of the West Pit Ditch with the Taylor Tributary Ditch. In the currently approved
plan the West Pit Ditch intercepts the Taylor Tributary ditch at approximately station
