The access road through this area is constructed as a <br />minor gravel fill without culverts. <br />The operator will construct a stormwater basin at the low point on the north side of pit. <br />All runoff from the affected area will be directed to the basin. The runoff is expected to <br />be minor and will infiltrate into the ground. The'berm containing the basin will have an <br />overflow spillway constructed of native 4 to 6 inch rock in the event a very large storm <br />fills the basin. <br />The active mining area will be approximately 5 to 10 acres in size. In order to meet <br />project specifications, the operator may need to excavate multiple faces. <br />This operation is intended to be an intermittent operation as defined in Section 34-32.5- <br />103(110)(b). The terrace is 75 to 125 feet above the surrounding <br />land. Pockets of gravels of varying depth are located on the terraces. These remnant <br />gravel terrace deposits are locally referred to as "gravel breaks".
