The handwritten
field copy(iss) of these reports should be submitted to the contractor and/or construction
manager daily. Test reports should include applicable specifications and descriptions,
test locations, date of testing, control requirements, pass/fail of the individual tests, test
results, and any re-tests or other methods taken by the Contractor to address
deficiencies.
Upon completion of construction of the liner, the geotechnical engineer should prepare a
summary report regarding the work done, a summary of the field and laboratory test data
obtained, resolution of deviations or deficiencies from project specifications, and a
professional engineering opinion regarding the compliance of the construction with the
plans and specifications.
CLOSURE
Geotechnical Review The poor performance of many earthworks and subsurface
structures has been directly attributed to inadequate geotechnical review and earthwork
quality control. Therefore, a geotechnical engineer should be retained to review project
plans and specifications to evaluate whether they comply with the intent of the
recommendations in this report. The author of this report and/or the reviewing engineer
should be contacted directly to provide this review. The review should be reported in
writing.
Project earthwork operations should be observed by a geotechnical engineer.
