Permittee: WHITEWATER BUILDING MATERIALS CORP. PAGE 3
Permit #: M-1977-129
Operation Name: WHITEWATER 500 PIT
Anniversary Date: 09122/009
landowner building sites were graded in this area also
(pink). The above water areas in Stage 2 - PART B were
seeded after the water level stabilized (green).
Slope material has been placed along 1185 feet of area
on the northwest side of Stage 2 - PART A. This area
is scheduled to start reclamation during the winter of
2009-10. Once mining and processing ends south of the
river in Stage 2 - PART A final grading, shaping,
resoiling and revegetation will be done.
Sloping was completed around the freshwater
pond/settling pond in Stage 3 - PART A as it was
constructed. No additional reclamation is required on
areas north of the river.
There is approximately 8,000 cy of overburden stored
in Phase D that will be used on the alpha stages
(orange). We estimate there is approximately 48,000
yards of overburden stored in Stage 6 and another
39,000 yards stored in Stage 3 - PART B (brown). These
piles are in a constant state of flux with material
being added and removed as areas are stripped and
resoiled. The settling ponds are still being used to
clean process water (dark blue).
Weed control continued this year on the area around
the active mine in the areas around Phase 2- PARTS A &
B. We sprayed Knapweed and White Top from April thru
July 2009 with water soluble 2-4-D and Curtail'. This
is still an uphill battle since there is little or no
control taking place on properties surrounding the
mine and seed is being wind blown in from offsite
areas that we have no control
over. Spraying will continue as needed. Tamarisk
control and Russian Olive removal continued along the
mine access road and on the western side of Stage 2 -
PART A.
