Mining excavation may occur 4 months of the calendar year. Dozer and wheel loader will
be used to strip topsoil. Pit run material will be pushed into piles with dozer, and then a
wheel loader will be used to feed the power screen to separate materials to be used on
roadways. The mined area will be berm off at a 3:1 slope. Stockpiles that will be in place
for less than a year will not be revegetated. The stockpiles that will be made will be
compacted by the equipment.
The entire site will be grade to direct any storm water runoff.
The Ansley Pit #2 will be mined to a depth of approximately 15'. The finished mined
areas will be used for future stockpile areas. The stockpiles will consist of materials
previously processed from this pit. This material is the product that Park County uses to
maintain the gravel roads.
There is not a plan for storm water as the Ansley Pit #2 will only be 15.2 acres.
The nature of the stratum immediately below contains a mixture of different materials
that are listed in the Ansley Series report (see attached).
Exhibit E-Reclamation Plan
This site, Ansley Pit #2, will be reclaimed to rangeland. Land disturbance will begin with
removal and stockpiling of the topsoil prior to mining. Topsoil will be used for future
reclarnation as a plant growth medium and for back fill for the mined back slope.
Additional top soil will be brought in if necessary.
Concurrent reclamation will involve removal of the overburden from reserve and
immediately placed as berms in the new areas of disturbance. The over burden that is
used as a berm will be used as the topsoil when reclamation begins. Permanent seeding
and vegetation will follow the top soiling.
This site, Ansley Pit #2, is County owed property, but the reclamation will consist of
seeding, vegetation shall conform to the surrounding habitat. All slopes will be contoured
to a minimum slope of 3:1. Positive drainage will be achieved for all reclaimed land
surface area. Seed mixture designed by the US Dept of Agriculture:
• Creasled Wheat Grass ----- 1.0 per acre
• Blue Grama----------------- .2 per acre
• Russian Wildrye------------ 1.0 per acre
• Western Wheat Grass----- 4.0 per acre
• Yellow Sweet Clover------ .7 per acre
The topsoil at the same time of seeding would be disced and the mixture of seed applied.
Then seeded areas will have mulch with straw applied. Reseeding will start in the spring
of the year.
Water demands at Ansley Pit #2 will begin approximately in 2020 and/or start
immediately when the mining is complete.
