Rimrock Exploration & Development, Inc.
J-Bird Uranium Mine/ DMO/ EPP Designated Chemical(s) and Material(s) Handling
6.0 DESIGNATED CHEMICAL(S) AND MATERIAL(S) HANDLING
As previously mentioned, Rimrock has a developed a SWMP in accordance with CDPHE
CDPS General Permit. The SWMP was prepared as a means by which to identify
protective management practices for the Mine and prevent unauthorized release of
pollutants to the environment.
6.1 HANDLING OF HB-08-1161 DEFINED MATERIAL
The environment will be protected from ore stockpile material by the construction of an
ore pad adhering to DRMS General Ore Pad Construction Criteria. When the ore-
stockpile accumulates to an approximated volume, the material will be loaded onto haul
trucks and transported off-site to a mill for processing. The waste rock pile(s) do not
exhibit any DMO defined criteria (refer to Sections 5 and 14). However, as stoped areas
develop, this material will be returned underground, making available more surface area
as underground mining continues. Waste rock dumps will remain on surface when mine
life exhausts. A post-mining Radiation Monitoring Plan will be initiated to compare with
pre-mining activity levels (see Section 19.0 and Attachment H). These dumps will be
contoured to match existing topography, covered with topsoil and reseeded (see Section
17.0). The SWMP will be maintained until the site has been fully reclaimed to assure that
stability of the reclaimed dump sites is monitored. Additional information can be
obtained by referencing the SWMP which details designed Structural Best Management
Practices (BMP).
6.2 HANDLING OF "DESIGNATED CHEMICALS"
There will be no metallurgical process associated with the Mine. Disposal of petroleum
products will not occur on-site. A mobile Rimrock maintenance vehicle will handle all
regular maintenance and used products will be removed from the Mine site. Refer to
SWMP Section 3.3.2 for detailed discussion of Non-Structural BMP's, Housekeeping
Spill Prevention and Response, Exposure Minimization, Other Controls and Site
Maintenance.
12
