amec
Earth & Environmental
right of centerline. Contouring was performed using a CAT D-10 dozer, a CAT D-9 dozer and
a CAT D-8 dozer. Material generated as the cut progressed was pushed down the slope.
F) Overburden to Stockpile
1) VLF
Oversize rock within the Phase 5 VLF fill area was removed from fill areas and hauled to the
overburden stockpile area east of the east perimeter road near stations A28+00 (+/-) to A36+00
G) Cut to Fill
1) VLF
A John Deere 850 excavator and a CAT 385 excavator excavated structural fill material
between stations J10+00 (+/-) and J16+00 (+/-), approximately 75 to 150 feet right of
centerline, J8+00 (+/-) and J10+00 (+/-), approximately 0 to 75 feet right of centerline, J20+00
(+/-) and J22+00 (+/-), approximately 0 to 50 feet right of centerline. A John Deere 850
excavator and a CAT 375 excavator excavated structural fill material between stations J8+00
(+/-) and J12+00 (+/-), approximately 50 to 75 feet right of centerline, J17+00 (+/-) and
J20+00 (+/-), approximately 0 to 100 feet right of centerline. A CAT 385 excavator excavated
structural fill material between stations A10+00 (+/-) and A12+00 (+/-), approximately 150 to
250 feet left of centerline. A John Deere 850 excavator excavated structural fill material
between stations J7+00 (+/-) and J9+50 (+/-), approximately 50 to 75 feet right of centerline.
The structural fill material was loaded into CAT 777 and 40-ton articulating haul trucks. The
material was transported to the following fill areas throughout the shift:
Structural fill material was placed between stations F9+00 (+/-) and F12+00 (+/-),
approximately 0 to 150 feet right of centerline, A26+00 (+/-) and A30+00 (+/-), approximately
20 feet left and right of centerline, A37+50 (+/-) and A40+00 (+/-), approximately 0 to 150 feet
right of centerline, F9+00 (+/-) and F12+00 (+/-), approximately 150 feet left and right of
centerline, A23+50 (+/-) and A26+50 (+/-), approximately 15 feet left to 50 feet right of
centerline, F9+00 (+/-) and F11+00 (+/-), approximately 20 to 75 feet right of centerline,
A28+00 (+/-) and A31+00 (+/-), 30 feet left and right of centerline, F7+00 (+/-) and F9+00
(+/-), approximately 20 to 100 feet right of centerline. The structural fill material was spread
by a CAT D-8 dozer, CAT D-9 dozer or CAT 966 loader in 18" to 24" lifts. Each lift was
moisture conditioned using a CAT 773 water truck (when necessary) and compacted using a
10-ton vibratory smooth drum compactor, passing over the entire fill surface at least 4 times
(method compaction technique is applicable).
Blast pattern drilling was performed by Rockbreakers between stations A13+50 (+/-) and
A 14+50 (+/-), approximately 20 to 75 feet right of centerline, A7+50 (+/-) and A8+50 (+/-),
approximately 20 to 75 feet right of centerline, and A11+50 (+/-) and A12+00 (+/-),
approximately 20 to 75 feet right of centerline using three track mounted drill rigs.
H) Material Processing
1) South Cresson Clay Processing Area
Processing of Soil Liner Fill material continued at the South Cresson Clay Processing area. A
CAT D-6 dozer, a CAT 330 excavator, and a CAT 966 front-end loader were used to process
the material.
VLF Weekly Report WE 08.22.09.D.doc
