Structure Location Construction Dates <br />• Light use Road 1 RSS, Exhibit 6A 1977 <br />Description -This road extends from the Roadside South Portals (RSS) storage yard <br />to the - ion and B-substations located east of the mine site. The road follows <br />approximately 1'/z miles of pre-exis ing private roc s:--~- <br />Design and Construction -The road follows the original roads and only required <br />minor additional cuts and fills near its beginning at the RSS storage area. With the <br />exception of the hill above the storage yard and the hill below the A-substation the <br />existing road generally followed the natural topography of the area. The first 1000 <br />feet of the road has a 14% grade and the remainder of the road ranges fr~ om 1-7%° <br />Drainage -One 1 S" CMP culvert is installed where the road crosses the South <br />Diversion ditch located above the RSS operations area, see Appendix 13-2 for design. <br />Cutouts will be made along the road as necessary to divert runoff off of the road. <br />The portion of the road directly above the Roadside Refuse Pile will act as a diversion <br />ditch for the refuse pile. The road will be graded to the inside to act as a wide shallow <br />ditch. Design for the diversion is given in Appendix 3-2. <br />• Surtacing -The road is a dirt road and. has no roadbase or gravel. Gravel may be <br />added to highly erodible or difficult to maintain sections of the road. <br />Maintenance -Minor grading may be done on the road to eliminate ruts and to <br />promote drainage. <br />Structure .Location Construction Dates <br />light use Road 2 RSN, Exhibit 8A 1977 <br />Description -This road is immediately west of the Roadside North Portal (RSN) <br />operations area and is used for occasional access to the powder and cap magazines <br />and to the RSN substation. The length of roadway is 1000' <br />Design and Construction -The road generally follows the original topography of the <br />area with cuts and fills of less than 2' near the north end. The grades on the road <br />range from 5-15%. The width of the road is 15-20'. <br />Drainage -The west diversion ditch for the RSN operations area crosses the fork of <br />the road leading to the magazines. A swale in the road is used to carry the runoff. <br />The magazine road above the swale drains to the diversion ditch and the area below <br />• T13-2-9 (Rev. 12/16/96) <br />
